louis stout 2011 - 2012 Forty-fifth president of the AAU. Stout was the first African-American president of the organization. He was a basketball star athlete. Under his respected leadership, measures were implemented to protect athletes, including requiring background screening for all adults involved in AAU activities in beginning in 2012. In 1994, Stout became the first African American to head a state high school athletic association in the country. He was the commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association from 1994 to 2002. 
 Stout served as the AAU James E. Sullivan Award Chairman for many years and is a member of the AAU Hall of Fame. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1963 from St. Regis College on a basketball scholarship under Coach Joe B. Hall. Masters of Science Degree in 1977 from Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. He passed away 9 months after becoming president of the AAU.
