lawrence Di benedetti 1939 - 1943 Twenty-second president of the AAU. Started the plan for the nation-wide physical fitness program. Accepted army proposals to clarify the status of amateur athletes in the armed forces. Benedetti was one of the original charter members of the Public School Athletic League and was one of the organizers of the Catholic School Athletic League. He was involved in the AAU for fifty years.
