joseph scalzo 1974 - 1975 Thirty-eighth president of the AAU. Upon election of the AAU presidency, Scalzo immediately pledged to “go anywhere and do anything” to bring peace to amateur athletics in this country. Addressing 1,100 delegates at an AAU National Convention, Scalzo said he would “make a pilgrimage to Washington, DC or Kansas City” to take the lead in ironing out any inter-organizational squabbles that threaten the growth and development of American Athletes.” (Ref: AAU News 1974-1975)
