david a. matlin 1966 - 1967 Thirty-fourth president of the AAU. Matlin was the first Jewish president of the Amateur Athletic Union. He was willing to have the AAU undertake selected athletic exchanges if the proper agreements were made to reimburse the U.S. for financial losses from when the Soviet Union pulled out from the annual international dual meet. Matlin was also a local official in weightlifting. He was active in the AAU for 30 years and served as the AAU first vice-president for two years.
