He exposed legendary multi-sport athlete Jim Thorpe’s earlier brief stint in semi-professional baseball causing the bureaucrats of amateurism in the AAU and the American Olympic Committee to make an example out of Thorpe and suggested Thorpe conceal the fact that he had professionalized himself; and thereby forcing him to return his medals and valuable prizes.
